Paisley is a large town in Renfrewshire, on Clydeside in the Central Belt of Scotland. It was a major centre for textiles, mass-producing "Paisley pattern" fabrics, though all the mills are long gone. The main reason to visit is its fine abbey, founded by the 6th century monk St Mirren or Mirin, who also gives his name to the town football club.
