Neuss is a city of 154,000 people (2019) across the Rhine river from Düsseldorf in the North Rhine-Westphalia region of Germany. It is known for its historic Roman sites, and for the annual Neusser Bürger-Schützenfest. Neuss and Trier share the title of "Germany's oldest city"; and in 1984 Neuss celebrated the 2000th anniversary of its founding in 16 BCE.
